How to see your clipboard history on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac
Short answer
Windows keeps a clipboard history you open with Win + V, and a Mac on macOS Tahoe or later keeps one in Spotlight. On Android, Gboard and Samsung Keyboard keep recent clips in the keyboard. An iPhone or iPad keeps only the last thing you copied. Each history stays on its own device; UniClip Pro keeps one searchable history of the clips you send, on every device.
Clipboard history on each device
| Device | Built-in history | How to open it | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 and 11 | Yes, up to 25 items | Win + V | Until the PC restarts, except pinned items |
| Mac, macOS Tahoe 26 or later | Yes, in Spotlight, once turned on | Cmd + Space, then Cmd + 4 | 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days, as you choose |
| Android with Gboard | Yes, in the keyboard | The clipboard icon in Gboard’s toolbar | An hour, except pinned items |
| Samsung Galaxy | Yes, in Samsung Keyboard | The clipboard icon in the keyboard’s toolbar | Pin a clip to keep it |
| iPhone and iPad | No, one item at a time | Paste | Until you copy something else |
| Chromebook | Yes, the last 5 items | Launcher + V | Until 5 newer items replace them |
On Windows
Press Win + V. The first time, Windows asks you to turn clipboard history on. Click an item to paste it, or pin it to keep it after a restart. It holds text, HTML and images up to 4 MB each, and keeps the 25 most recent items.
On a Mac
From macOS Tahoe 26, press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight, then Cmd + 4 to see what you copied. The first time, Spotlight may ask you to turn it on. Choose how long it keeps clips under System Settings, Spotlight, Results from Clipboard: 30 minutes, 8 hours or, from macOS 26.1, 7 days. Earlier versions of macOS keep only the last thing you copied.
On Android
Android itself holds one item. In Gboard, tap the clipboard icon in the toolbar above the keys, turn on Clipboard the first time, and tap a clip to paste it. Unpinned clips disappear after an hour. On Samsung Galaxy phones, Samsung Keyboard has its own clipboard icon in the toolbar.
On iPhone and iPad
iOS and iPadOS keep only the last thing you copied, and there is no screen that lists earlier ones. Copy something new and the old clip is gone. iOS 27 suggests pasting what you just copied above the keyboard, but it is still that one item. To keep more than one, send clips to a clipboard app on purpose, or save them to a note.
One clipboard history across all your devices
Every built-in history stays on the device it belongs to, and most clear themselves. UniClip Pro keeps the clips you send in one list on your Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad and computers: searchable, with links, codes, phone numbers and emails in their own filters, until you delete them. It only keeps what you send, never everything you copy.
Questions
Does iPhone have a clipboard history?
No. An iPhone or iPad keeps only the last thing you copied, and copying something new replaces it. A clipboard app keeps earlier clips if you send them to it.
Does a Mac have a clipboard history?
Yes, from macOS Tahoe 26. Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight, then Cmd + 4. It keeps clips for 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days, chosen under System Settings, Spotlight.
How do I turn on clipboard history in Windows?
Press Win + V and choose Turn on, or turn on Clipboard history under Settings, System, Clipboard.
Where is the clipboard on my Android phone?
In your keyboard. In Gboard, tap the clipboard icon in the toolbar above the keys; on Samsung phones, tap the clipboard icon in Samsung Keyboard’s toolbar.
Can I see my clipboard history on another device?
Not with the built-in histories, which stay on one device. With UniClip Pro, the clips you send appear in the same searchable list on every device you sign in or link.
